It has the largest collection of pre-Hispanic goldwork in the world with approximately thirty-four thousand pieces of gold and tumbaga, 1 about twenty-five thousand objects in pottery, stone, shell, bone and textiles. It exhibits pieces of different indigenous cultures settled in present-day Colombia before the arrival of Europeans, among them Calima, Muiscas, Nariño, Quimbaya, Sinú, Tairona, San Agustín, Tierradentro, Tolima , among other things.
